What is ChartChat?
ChartChat is a digital health platform that lets patients securely access and understand their medical records from their hospital or clinic. Patients connect their health accounts, and ChartChat pulls in their records — lab results, medications, conditions, visits, and more — and presents them in one place. An AI assistant helps patients understand what their records mean in plain language.
The Two Apps
ChartChat has two separate applications that work together.
Member Portal
Who uses it: Patients
What it is: The app patients use to access their health records. Patients sign up, connect their hospital account, and can then view their medical history, lab results, medications, and visit notes. They can also ask the AI assistant questions about their health data.
What patients can do:
- Connect their hospital or clinic to pull in their health records
- View lab results, conditions, medications, allergies, visits, and clinical documents
- Ask the AI assistant to explain their records in plain language
- Receive notifications when new records arrive
- Submit support requests if they need help
- Manage their account settings and connected providers

Admin Portal
Who uses it: ChartChat staff, system administrators, support teams, and operations teams
What it is: The internal management tool used by ChartChat staff to run the platform. Patients never use this app. Everything that happens behind the scenes — setting up hospital connections, managing user accounts, responding to patient support tickets, monitoring system health — is done here.
What admins can do:
- Add and manage hospital integrations so patients can connect to their EHR
- Invite and manage admin users and their access levels
- View and respond to patient support tickets
- Monitor reports — patient engagement, AI chat usage, EHR sync health
- Manage automation bots and API clients
- Access system maintenance tools (super admins only)

How They Work Together
When a patient connects their hospital in the Member Portal, the Admin Portal's hospital integration configuration is what makes that connection possible. Admins register hospitals, ChartChat uses those registrations to authenticate the patient's EHR access, and the patient's records flow in automatically.
Support tickets submitted by patients in the Member Portal appear in the Admin Portal for staff to respond to. Replies sent by staff are delivered directly to the patient as emails.
